Wow quite a big trade, the Marlins get a whole lotta guys and the Tigers get one of the best young hitters and a league average pitcher:

The Tigers and Marlins completed their blockbuster trade Wednesday, an eight-player swap that sent All-Stars Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis from Florida to Detroit.
The Marlins received a package of six players, including two highly rated prospects: left-hander Andrew Miller and outfielder Cameron Maybin. The teams reached a preliminary agreement Tuesday, with the deal subject to players passing physicals.
The Tigers also sent catcher Mike Rabelo and right-handers Burke Badenhop, Eulogio De La Cruz and Dallas Trahern to Florida.
Florida didn't even approach the Tigers until Tuesday morning. The Marlins told the Tigers they could have both stars for those six players, then Detroit called back later in the day and agreed.
Detroit's lineup will look something like this next year:
Granderson
Renteria
Ordonez
Cabrera
Sheffield
Polanco
Guillen
Rodriguez
Jacque Jones
That is ridiculous. They might have the best lineup in baseball. Look out Red Socks and Yankees, the Tigers are making their move this year.
Oh and look out for the Marlins (in 2012)!
Dontrelle won't be pitching for the Marlins anymore, we own him.

And while Florida may not win 40-games next year, at least it will be fun to watch a bunch of kids who probably look barely old enough to be shaving.

Hanley Ramirez, who's one of the five best players in baseball. They'll win at least 70 games. They'll have some pitchers coming back from injuries as well.

I should have defered to you anyway - being that it's your division and all!

It's nearly everyone's division. Darin and GC are Braves fans. Dan's a Mets fan. I root for the NL East Champions.
I guess Mark is a Yanks fan, you root for Boston, and Neil roots for the Dodgers. But more than half of the posts here are about the NL East, I'd guess.

I cheer for the Padres and Indians when I pay attention to baseball.
Is I'm self centered, and only pay attention when I hear about my team/division.
Plenty of Cubs and Cardinals fans post here too, now that I think about it. And of course our Astros rep.

In my mental map, the AL is a vast blank sheet of paper, much like inland North America was in the early maps drawn by coastal explorers. I know about the Yankees and Red Sox, have a vague idea about the Angels, and I like reading Fire Joe Morgan bash the White Sox, but beyond that...
Mets and Phils a bit because of the proximity of in-laws and out-laws, little bit on the Cards, and then...

Please man, don't conflates my geographic proximity with my preferences. Honetly, truthfully, I don't have "a team", per say. I admit to being jazzed about the AL East race last year because, well, it was a clash of the titans (a 96-game winning team beats-out a 94-game winning team for the division? Yikes!) Though I admit to liking the 2007 version of the SAWCKS a whole lot more than the 2004 version of the "lovable idiots" - simply, this was a much more "likeable" team in my mind.
My dad is a hard-wired fan of the Evil Empire™ - from birth - so I suppose some of that is in my genes. Really though, I just *heart* baseball in a big way - and believe the only way to truly watch it is live and in person, but that's for another day.

I should have sat last night out.
I just assumed from you starting all of those threads during the World Series that you were a Red Sox fan. But you know what happens when you assume...

It's just that I think the WS should be a week-long national holiday - in general - and when you had a story like The Rox coming into the series as hot as they were, well, it's hard to not get too excited about it.

At least only one AL team gets to make it to the World Series, so my Dodgers still have a shot.
Here's hoping Andruw Jones is healthy, heh.
And yes, I hate the irony that I'm the one who screamed that signing Alex Rodriguez is much better than signing Andruw Jones, but who'd my Dodgers get?
It's a really solid move by the Dodgers. They only committed to two years from him, and if he finds the fountain of youth (possible since he's isn't old), it'll be a great move. And if he doesn't, they're only on the hook for two years.

what a lineup eh? I think they may hit 50 HRs. The whole year. As a team.
Speculation that the tigers will flip the DTrain over to the mets. I cant imagine why, what do the mets have? Maybe if you can get one of their speedy outfielders, Gomez or the other one, and then put Jones on the bench or trade him.
I would keep Willis and his 200 innings.

The Marlins will trade these guys by the time they get good too.
I'm glad they're in the NL East. Washington is going to figure it out sooner or later. If all five teams were good, it'd be unbearable.
