We interrupt - for a brief metric football interlude.

Champions League draw is out. Some of the must-see pairings...
Arsenal v. AC Milan
Roma v. Real Madrid
Inter Milan v. Liverpool
No easy pairings in this first knock-out round of course, but Man U looks likely to advance over Lyon without too much effort. Chelsea will likely cruise as will Porto. Look for Celtic to be surprisingly tough against Barcelona.
Even when their domestic campaigns are going fairly they seem to rise to the top in continental play. That was a pretty comprehensive thrashing they gave Pompey yesterday - good win, especially when looking at Championship-bound Derby next. And I agree, if they're going to make a serious run for the EPL they really need to go on a run here.
That was indeed a pretty good win for the Gunners at home. HUGE save on the PK by Almunia - the entire complexion of the match goes to Spurs if Keane converts.
Oh, and look at that - Man U gets an 86th minute PK, at home, to beat Everton 2-1. Cripes, I freaking *hate* Man U.

Can't believe it took a last gasp Gerrard goal to save them against Derby.
Hope it goes smoother at Man City.

... is still winning, mind you.
That said, my Gunners appear to be "drawing ugly" at Portsmouth. Could be Man U top table by the end of the day.
Oh, and have I mentioned how I flipping hate Man U?

Gallas and Rosicky missed a few golden opportunities in the late stages there.

I was called away from the computer and missed the latter stages of the match. From what I read this is a bad result for Arsenal as they appeared to have the better of play, opportunities and possession. Oh well. Life goes on.

Inter are probably playing the best soccer in the world right now, but Liverpool have a way of winning in Europe.
Good win for Liverpool in the league today over Pompey 4-1. If we can close out the year beating Derby and Man City away, I'll probably start believing we can win the league again. City haven't dropped points in league play at home, so we'll see.
Congrats on beating Spurs.
